Who we are

Right to Sight was founded in 2006 by Kate Coleman, Consultant Eye and Oculoplastic Surgeon, to address the cataract blindness crisis in Africa, which is solely due to a dire shortage of ophthalmologists on the continent.

Kate believed that the best way to manage the crisis was to develop an expert eye care management consultancy for Africa, dedicated to using cutting edge technology to capacity build existing programmes and partnerships, as well as providing a stream of high quality, high volume training institutions for the Continent.

Right to Sight is focused on economically sustainable quality eye care delivery, through innovation, hospital management, clinical and surgical training programmes in Africa. We believe that this creates an attractive career path to attract, support, empower and retain eye surgeons in Africa.
