Kate Coleman  BSc, PhD , FRCS, FRCOphth
Consultant Eye Surgeon

Kate Coleman is an eye surgeon and qualified as a Doctor after six years at the multinational Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

She commenced Ophthalmology in January 1988 and by January 1990 had both her Fellowships in Surgery (FRCSEd) and Ophthalmology (FRCOphth). She then went to Amsterdam to specialise in Orbital and Oculoplastic surgery at the Academisch Medisch Center of the University of Amsterdam. Whilst there, she completed a PhD in Quantitative Pathology of Uveal Melanoma. In 1995 she commenced working as Consultant Ophthalmologist in St Michaels Hospital Dun Laoghaire, Mt Carmel Hospital Dublin and the Blackrock Clinic, Dublin.

Kate founded Right to Sight in January 2006 after many years of looking for ways to contribute to the elimination of preventable blindness. Kate was gripped by the solvability of the blindness crisis by addressing the dire lack of ophthalmologists on the Continent.

 

Sarah Connellan
Communications & Development Manager

Sarah is Communications and Development Manager at Right to Sight and is responsible for the communications strategy of the organisation and fundraising activities.

Sarah is an Economics graduate from University College Dublin and joined Right to Sight from a financial background having previously held positions with Key Capital Limited in the Investment Management Industry and Powerscourt Capital Partners in the Venture Capital and Private Equity Industry.

 

Deirdre O’Callaghan
Head of Administration

Deirdre is Head of Administration at Right to Sight and is responsible for the day to day running of the organisation, supporting the teams in Ireland and in Africa.

Deirdre has worked with Right to Sight since its inception in 2006 and prior to that worked in various Investment Holdings companies supporting International teams in Mergers & Aquisitions.

 

Narayanan Hariharan
Programme Manager

Narayanan is Programme Manager at Right to Sight and has worked with the organisation since 2007. As Programme Manager he is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of all Right to Sight programmes.

Since completing a Masters in Social Work (MSW) in 1989, Narayanan has worked in the NGO sector. He joined Right to Sight from Emmaus Community Welfare Fund in India where he held the position of CEO. While there he completed many projects in rural community health and development.

In 1999 he completed a second Masters in Community Health in Heidelberg University in Germany and has been active in the field of eye healthcare ever since.
