Right to Sight offer Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS) Scholarships for kenya at the moment and are currently developing a scholarship course for Cameroon and South Africa. A scholarship covers fees, transport and accomodation for a 6 week intensive couse to convert from ECCE to SICS. The trainee surgeon will learn how to operate in a high quality, high volume programme and will be expected to perform at least 60 operations under close supervision during their course. The trainee will also receive additional training in glaucoma screening and detection and use of SLT laser therapy, as well as other clinical diagnostic skills.
